When we hear this phrase, there’s usually a negative connotation. Think sullen teenager or temperamental boss. But moods can also be good, right?

One universal truth is that moods are about feelings. You’re in a great mood, so let’s go out dancing. Not so great, and you’re in bed with a pint of ice-cream.

The materials we use to communicate, when executed properly, should illicit a mood. Last month I focused on how color plays into this concept, but there’s so much more. Your images, fonts, layout and yes, color, all work together to conjure an emotional response in your audience. Done successfully, you may land the new client. Miss the mark, and they could look elsewhere.

It’s important to work with a graphic designer who understands the importance of this concept when producing your materials. From your logo, brochures and ads, all the way to your website, make sure the mood conveys who you are.
