In full disclosure mode, I’ll take a burger over pancakes anyday. But even if everyone feels like I do, IHOP really pulled off a doozy of a stunt.
In case you missed it, America’s favorite home of fluffy breakfast treats announced that they were changing course and would be hawking juicy burgers instead. IHOP would now be IHOB.
Huh?
There were tweets, media stories, and yes a NEW LOGO. People were outraged. People were intrigued.
People were, and still are, talking about it.
I’ve talked often in this space about taking a chance, using humor when appropriate and being different. Check, check and check. Some thought this was a bad idea, and I wholeheartedly disagree. Nobody was insulted, world order is still in tact, and honestly the entire campaign was done tastefully. (Sorry!)
Pancake lovers, I hope you’ll continue to visit IHOP and burger lovers, well, I think we owe it to them to stop by.
