Hey 2021. I see you.

Anyone else get the feeling that clients just want to hit the ground running this year and put 2020 far behind them? I am all for this, and grateful that I’m working on so many awesome projects. And I want to share an experience my Business Bestie and I had this week in talking with a prospective client.

When Laura, from Sharp 11 and I, were referred to a potential client, we began discussing their creative and marketing needs. They thought they needed social media marketing and advertising help, because nobody knew who they were.  There was a small amount budgeted for some branding help, as well, which is where we came in, but in asking some initial questions, it became clear that the problem was much deeper than purchasing some Google ads.

Their brand didn’t tell anyone who they were, or do anything memorable, which sort of means, they really didn’t have a brand.

I’d like to point out that Laura and I never SELL our work. We educate people on the importance of brands and how our process works, and then work with clients who believe our work will benefit their organizations. So when our discussion with this potential client turned to “maybe we need to start with a re-brand” we were there to ask and answer more questions, offer full transparency, and show them we understand their situation. A re-brand is a big undertaking and we get it.

So a few things to consider if you may find yourself in a similar situation:

1. Do you have a brand?

2. Does your brand really represent you and your organization?

3. Is your brand bold?

4. Are you and your employees able to communicate your brand, because everyone is invested in your brand?

5. Do you love your brand?

If you find these questions thought-provoking and would like to discuss your brand further, let’s talk. You may decide, like the above-mentioned client, that refining your brand makes more sense than promoting something that doesn’t serve you as well as it could. This, I truly understand.
